Ambulatory EEG involves wearing a portable EEG recorder on a belt around your waist for several days or weeks.You will be given specific instructions regarding food, drink, and medications that may need to be avoided. Abnormal brain waves may appear when the body is stressed or fatigued.
You may be asked to do a sleep-deprived EEG, which requires you to have only 4 hours of sleep.

The technician will apply the EEG electrodes to your head. Our technicians are all highly trained and pass a background check, and they take your health and well-being seriously. Avoid putting anything on or over your head.Īn EEG technician will arrive at your home to set-up the test and video EEG monitoring equipment. Wear a front-opening shirt with buttons or a zipper so you can easily change your clothes throughout the test. Hair pieces, extensions or braids should be taken out and removed from the scalp prior to the test. Do not use any type of hair or scalp conditioner or hairstyling products, including gel, mousse, oils, or hairspray. Remember, home EEG monitoring is generally done for 72 hours or more, and you won’t be able to bathe until it’s complete.
